SPOTLIGHT ON: KATOOMBA SLOW

ONE OF THE MOST LOVED HOMES ON AIRBNB

Welcome to Katoomba Slow, a delightful gem of the Blue Mountains. Katoomba Slow was originally built circa. 1878 for the miners of the Kerosene Shale in South Katoomba - now the location of the Scenic Railway (a must-see for any visit). When the shale was depleted and the mine closed, the little cottage was transported in the 1890s - along with around 15 others – board by board, up to her current location in the heart of Katoomba village. Such a special and unique history!

From Hosts Rebecca and Ian:

Our humble and historic mountain cottage is a sanctuary of peace and calm; an ideal base to either explore the Mountains from or just rest and relax. Perfectly suited for 2-4 guests, we have two queen bedrooms, as well as a deep clawfoot bath with unlimited hot water. She’s cosy with everything needed to luxuriate, and our enchanting little pot belly stove keeps her warm year-round.

We invite guests to disconnect, slow time down, immerse in nature and restore. Katoomba Slow is all yours, only 350m from Katoomba’s high street, 650m from the Train Station and minutes to the many wonders our World-Heritage-Listed Blue Mountains has to offer.

Our little cottage boasts 2 queen beds for you to fall into at the end of your day. Topped with Australian Merino Wool duvets and the softest flax linen, and warmed with toasty electric blankets, sleep comes easy at Katoomba Slow.

Our bathroom is a pleasure to spend time in, with a large clawfoot bath and unlimited hot water to soak your cares away. We have restored the original cast iron handbasin which is a nod to the home’s humble past. Underfloor heating, an antique mirror and sumptuous Italian brass tapware make this room a delight for all your senses. Aesop toiletries and aromatherapy bath salts only heighten this experience.

Amenities in our delightful handmade kitchen include an ‘entertainer’s delight’ double sized Smeg oven, a fridge and freezer, dishwasher, microwave, kettle and toaster. We have both plunger and stovetop coffee makers – you choose!

We have a large north facing covered deck that captures the sun all day, from where you can sip a morning cuppa watching the sun sparkle as it rises between the trees or watch the twilight as evening descends.

We are proudly an inclusive stay and guests of any background or community are welcome here into a safe space. Our ground level porch access, and walk in shower allows us to host those with limited mobility.
